In the development process for systems that are to be used under space conditions, it is very important to test these systems under environmental conditions that are as close as possible to the application. These conditions include weightlessness (microgravity). This microgravity can be simulated using various facilities such as parabolic flights, sounding rockets, satellites, space stations and drop towers. However, there is currently no standardized method for measuring and evaluating this microgravity quality.

As part of this project, a measurement system for microgravity research will be developed together with the evaluation algorithms. This measurement system includes various sensors that can record relevant data in the various facilities. This data will then be evaluated in real time so that experiments can also receive direct feedback on the status of the facility and the quality of the microgravity.

The project is being carried out by the Institute of Transport and Automation Technology (ITA) at Leibniz Universität Hannover.
